History:
Apparently, Astra was recruited by Magneto into his Brotherhood, but she left soon afterwards, apparently having too much ambition of her own. She may also have been put off by Magnus, who apparently rebuffed her advances. Astra reappeared years later to find Magneto mindless after the fall of Avalon. That didn't suit her plans at all, so she retored his memories and then took her to her lab where she cloned him. Then Astra told the clone to kill Magneto. However, the clone was not fast enough for a conscious Magneto, who blindsided his doppelganger with a rock to the back to the head. This clone would eventually become known as Joseph. Astra laid low while seraching for her creation, and when she found him months later, she captured him and used an alien device to force him to do her bidding. Using Joseph, Astra attacked Magneto, who was in the process of disrupting the Earth's EM field. During the fight, Astra revealed a connection to Nightcrawler, the nature of which is still unknown, but it seems she knew him as a child. Joseph broke free and Astra fled the scene. Recently, all Astra's appearances were called into question with the revelation that Apocalypse used his Skrull allies to create Joseph and prevent Magnus from skewing the EM field, which 'Pocy needed intact to channel the energies of The Twelve into himself. Apocalypse mentioned that Magneto should have remembered that he had to deal with the "original" Astra very harshly, implying that he killed or severly hurt her. So we may never have seen the true Astra (except in a flashback).
