New X-Men #150

"Phoenix Invictus", Planet X: Conclusion
February, 2004 (On Sale: 17 December 2003)

The Credits:
Grant Morrison (Writer), Phil Jimenez (Pencils), Andy Lanning w/ Simon Coleby (Inks), Chris Chuckry (Colors), Chris Eliopoulos Letters), Stephanie Moore & Cory Sedlmeier (Assistant Editors), Mike Marts (Editor), Joe Quesada (Editor-in-Chief), Dan Buckley (Publisher)

The Story:
Jean regains the Phoenix Force and uses it to rescue herself and Wolverine. They return to Earth, pick up Beast and Emma (who had crash landed in the middle of the ocean), and head to New York to help stop Magneto. The X-Men, along with the Xavier Students and Fantomex, defeat Magneto (Wolverine actually cut off his head, so I assume he's dead for real this time), but not before Mags kills Jean with an electromagnetically induced stroke.

An epilogue, set 150 years in the future, sees an explorer on the Blue Area of the moon discover a "Phoenix Egg."

Dies:
Esme Cuckoo, Magneto, Phoenix (IV)

The Characters:
X-Men:
Beast, Cyclops, Phoenix (IV), Professor X, White Queen, Wolverine
Others:
Angel (IV), Beak, Esme Cuckoo, Dust, Ernst, EVA, Fantomex, Officer Foster, Martha Johansson, Magneto, Stepford Cuckoos, Toad, Angel's Babies, US Government Officials
